III. Formulate the beginning of a research design
a. Identify the variables that you're studying
b. Decide you they can be measured (operationalize)
c. Find out how others have measured them
d. Find out if the measures you're choosing have been shown
to be reliable and valid
IV Work up a sampling plan
a. Consider how you'll find your research subjects
b. Think about how you'll be sure that they don't feel coerced or
otherwise compelled (social desirability bias) to participate
c. Review the IRB protection for research subject protocol requirements
d. List the potential harms to subjects that your study might bring
e. Reason out how you will protect subjects from these problems
f. Think about the cost-benefits of the study. Is your study worth it?
V. Work up a data-collection methodology
a. Consider data-collection methods beyond the instruments you're using.
b. How will you ensure that subjects are treated ethically?
c. Are they treated with cultural sensitivity?
VI. Collect the Data
VII. Test the hypotheses, Analyze the data
